10 Rebounder Trampoline Benefits for Parents and Kids

I feel like I should seriously get a sponsorship from a rebounder trampoline company based on how much I use mine and how often I tell people to get one. I mean, there’s a reason why the phrase “jump for joy” is so commonly used. And I know you’ve seen those indoor trampoline parks popping up all around your area. Trampolines! They’re a thing.

All jokes aside, purchasing a rebounder trampoline has changed my life.

    Why?

Because this is one tool that can help boost your energy levels (and what parent doesn't want more of that?). Reduce your stress (because honestly, what human couldn't use a little less of it?). And even strengthen your bones, improve your balance, support your heart health, and aid digestion (I'm serious!). Plus it’s pretty hard not to smile when you’re jumping up and down. So, bonus points for uplifting your mood as well!

I'm here to tell you that investing in a rebounder trampoline has been one of the best wellness decisions I've made. It's become my go-to whenever I need an energy boost, a mental reset, or just a few minutes to myself.

And my kids have embraced it, too. They see me intentionally setting aside time to move my body, recharge, and care for myself, so they've naturally started doing the same. Instead of reaching for a screen when they need a break, they'll often head to the trampoline to jump, reset, and burn off some energy.

So, if you've been on the fence about getting a rebounder trampoline, let me show you why I think every family should own one: Young girl smiling while jumping on a green rebounder trampoline indoors

10 Rebounder Trampoline Benefits for Parents and Kids

As a busy mom, I’m always looking for simple and effective ways to find time for some self-love and to reset if I’m feeling overworked, overtired, and overwhelmed. So, for years, I’ve been turning to my rebounder trampoline (aka a mini trampoline) for my home workouts! I find using my trampoline such an incredible way to get out of a chaotic moment or to move static energy if I’ve been in a funky mood because it’s just been one of those really tough days. Within a few jumps, I can feel the positive energy move into my day.

My kids are all about the rebounder trampoline, too. They know it has a ton of benefits, and they have it in their toolbox just like I do. And we have a pretty big family, so ours sees a ton of use! So, when people ask me, “What’s your best parenting hack when you just need to take a break for a minute?” I’m constantly telling them the benefits of getting a rebounder trampoline and taking even a few minutes a day to just get on that thing and JUMP.

But, if you’re wondering what the exact science-backed rebounding exercise benefits are, let’s get into it:

What Are the Benefits of a Rebounder Trampoline for Families?

Though I can definitely offer my personal testimony for why you need a mini trampoline in your house, there are actually plenty of studies to back up why it works. Below, I’ll list some of the benefits of using a rebounder trampoline based on the research!

    Strengthens Muscles Throughout Your Body

Of course, like all physical activity, rebounding workouts help keep you strong! It develops functional strength by forcing your muscles to stabilize, absorb force, and generate power with every single jump. It’s great for your legs, feet, hips, and core strength,

Supports Mental Health and Reduces Stress

Rebounding is actually a form of aerobic exercise (think swimming, walking, dancing, etc.) and those types of workouts have serious mental health benefits! They stimulate the release of endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin, which helps with pain, motivation, focus, mood, and stress relief.

Helps Adults Feel Energized and Kids Feel Regulated

Need a quick afternoon pick-me-up? A few minutes on a rebounder trampoline can improve circulation, wake up your body, and leave you feeling refreshed without another cup of coffee. But don’t worry about it getting the kids all wound up. The repetitive jumping provides "heavy work," a type of sensory input that many children find calming and regulating. That makes it a great exercise for parents and a great exercise for kids.

Rebounder Trampolines Improve Balance and Coordination

Every bounce challenges your body to stay stable on an ever-changing surface. That means your core, ankles, hips, and smaller stabilizing muscles are constantly working to keep you upright. With enough time and practice, this can improve your balance, posture, flexibility, coordination, body awareness, and stability! This helps make keeping up with the kids easier and helps protect everyone who bounces (kids and adults) from fall injuries.

Provides Low-Impact Exercise That's Gentle on Your Joints

If high-impact workouts leave your knees or back feeling sore, you'll love this. Rebound exercise gives you all the fun of jumping without the pounding that comes with running or other high-impact activities. The flexible mat absorbs most of the impact every time you land. This makes it much gentler on your knees, hips, ankles, and spine.

In fact, a NASA study even showed that jumping on a mini trampoline provides up to 68% greater biomechanical stimulation and work output than treadmill running. Pretty cool, right? It's an easy way to strengthen your body while supporting long-term mobility and joint health.

Supports Heart Health and Cardiovascular Fitness

Remember Jump Rope for Heart in elementary school? There was a reason jumping was at the center of it! Rebounding is a cardiovascular exercise that gets your heart pumping and your lungs working. Over time, it can improve endurance, support healthy circulation, and strengthen your cardiovascular system. It's a simple, fun way for the whole family to build a healthier heart—one bounce at a time.

May Help Support Healthy Digestion and Detox

Your body was designed to move. And when you move, so do many of your body's most important systems. Rebounding may help support healthy digestion by stimulating the muscles in your digestive tract, while the up-and-down motion also helps move lymph fluid through your lymphatic system. That can help keep your digestive system moving regularly, reduce boating, support a healthy immune system, and help your body get rid of excess waste and fluid.

    Can Help Improve Bone Density

Growing bodies need plenty of opportunities to build strong bones, and jumping is one of the best ways to do it. Because rebounding is a weight-bearing exercise, every bounce strengthens your bones. That's great news for kids whose bones are still growing and developing. And of course, it's a huge win for us parents, too. As we get older, maintaining bone strength becomes really important. Activities like rebounding can help keep our bones strong so we can continue chasing our kids, carrying toddlers, and staying active even as we go from Mom to Grandma.

Suitable for Every Age and Fitness Level

There are health benefits of rebounding for the whole family, which is one of the reasons I love having a mini trampoline at home. While every child develops at their own pace, many children are ready for simple, supervised bouncing around age two. Your little ones may not be ready for bench presses or long-distance runs, but most kids naturally love to jump!

That said, it's important to use a rebounder safely. Although mini trampolines sit lower to the ground than full-size backyard trampolines, research has found that children can experience similar types of injuries on both when they're used as toys rather than exercise equipment. Because of this, pediatric experts recommend close adult supervision, one jumper at a time, no flips or tricks, and age-appropriate activities. When used responsibly, a rebounder can be a fun way for the whole family to maintain an active lifestyle.

Makes Exercise Fun for the Whole Family

Why else do I recommend rebounding be a part of your family exercise routine? IT’S FUN. And when something is fun, you're far more likely to stick with it. Instead of convincing your kids to exercise, they'll be asking if they can jump for a few more minutes. Better yet, you can join them! It's a simple way to get everyone moving, laughing, and making healthy habits together. Close-up of feet in socks bouncing on a mini rebounder trampoline during indoor exercise

    Can Kids Use Rebounder Trampolines?

Yes! In general, many children can begin gentle, supervised bouncing on a mini rebounder around 2 years old. Younger children should stick to simple activities like gentle bouncing or marching in place, while older kids can gradually build up to longer workouts and more challenging movements as their coordination improves.

However, safety should always come first. Mini rebounders are exercise equipment, not toys. The American Academy of Pediatrics has long cautioned that trampoline use can lead to injuries, especially when children jump without supervision, attempt flips, or have multiple jumpers at the same time. To reduce the risk, always supervise young children, allow only one person on the rebounder at a time, use it on a flat, stable surface, and save the acrobatics for tumbling class.

Finally, I want to be clear that I'm sharing my experience and educational research, not medical advice. Before purchasing a rebounder for your child, I encourage you to talk with your pediatrician to make sure it's appropriate for their age, development, and individual needs.

How to Use a Rebounder Trampoline

    Start with short sessions.

You don't have to spend an hour bouncing to see results. Start with just 5 to 10 minutes and build from there. This is especially helpful if you're introducing rebounding to young kids, who often do better with several short bursts of movement throughout the day.

Wear supportive shoes or go barefoot.

Both options work well! Some families prefer supportive athletic shoes, while others like bouncing barefoot to strengthen the muscles in their feet and improve balance. Choose whichever feels safest and most comfortable for each member of your family.

    Maintain proper form while rebounding.

Keep your knees slightly bent, your core engaged, and your shoulders relaxed. Encourage your kids to land softly instead of stomping or jumping as high as they can. I know, easier said than done. But, learning good habits from the beginning helps make rebounding safer and more enjoyable for everyone.

Begin with a gentle health bounce.

You don't have to jump high to get the benefits! Start with a gentle "health bounce," where your feet stay in contact with the mat while your heels lift slightly. It's the perfect way for beginners, parents, and young children to get moving without overdoing it.

    Mix up your movements.

One of the best things about a rebounder is how many ways you can use it. Try marching, jogging in place, jumping jacks, high knees, or simply bouncing to your favorite songs. Switching up the movements keeps everyone engaged and works different muscle groups along the way.

You can find lots of example workouts online too. Try searching things like:

    • “Mini Trampoline Workout”
    • “Rebounder Workout”
    • “Indoor Trampoline Workout”

    Listen to your body.

Every member of your family is different. Some days you'll have lots of energy, and other days you may need a shorter session. Pay attention to how your body feels, encourage your kids to do the same, and remember that consistency matters more than intensity.

Make rebounding part of your daily routine.

The easiest way to build healthy habits is to make them part of everyday life. Keep your rebounder where you'll actually use it and encourage everyone to hop on for a few minutes throughout the day. I know a mini trampoline isn’t the most attractive living room fixture, but those little movement breaks can add up in a big way.

Turn it into a family activity.

This is where the magic happens. Put on some music, invent silly games (safely), see who can keep bouncing the longest—anything to keep the exercise fun and fresh. When movement becomes something your family laughs and connects over, you're not just building healthier bodies—you're building healthier relationships and deep connections, too.

How Long Should You Rebound Each Day?

Just 5 to 10 minutes of rebounding each day can make a real difference over time! As your endurance improves, try working up to 15 to 30-minute sessions, which is the length used in many rebounding studies. Remember, consistency is more important than duration. A few minutes every day is better than one long workout once a week. Woman stretching on a rebounder trampoline outdoors before a mini trampoline workout

    Are Rebounder Trampolines Worth It?

Obviously, I'm a big fan! My rebounder gets used almost every single day, and it's easily one of the best investments I've made for my family's health. It gives me a quick workout when life gets busy, helps the kids burn off energy in a healthy way, and turns exercise into something we all genuinely enjoy.

If you're looking for one simple piece of equipment that the whole family can use, it's hard to beat a rebounder trampoline. Between the research-backed health benefits, the convenience, and the fun factor, I think it's absolutely worth it. It's a small investment that can have a big impact on your family's health for years to come.

A rebounder trampoline is one piece of exercise equipment the whole family can enjoy!

To me, being a parent means embracing the joy whenever I can. And getting on my trampoline always does the trick. Whether I need something to boost my mood, my body is feeling sluggish and needs to move, or I am just looking to have a few minutes of fun, this is one thing I always turn to. It’s the ultimate family wellness tool! I hope your crew loves it as much as mine!
